Jon Guerin or John Guerin or Jon De Guerin is suspected of being responsible for defrauding individuals through the ruse of building work. See Channel 5's episode of 'Cowboy Builders' shown Wednesday 26th January 2011.
The purpose of this blog is to alert anyone who should google his name to the dangers of employing him as your builder. We fell victim to him despite pretty good due diligence. Unfortunately an Internet search of his name when we employed his services returned nothing. We do not want this to happen to others, hence this blog.
A 10 week contract was agreed with payments to be made weekly. The contract end date came and went with approximately 50% (at best) of the work done. All payments were made as per the agreement and with only a small amount left to pay Jon Guerin left site and said that he would not be coming back. He has not responded to requests to return and complete the work.
This has allegedly happened to many other people. Please contact Trading Standards with any information that you may have.
Please do not be the next victim!

ReplyDeleteJust to let you know that I got done by him as well, back in Jan 2010. We persued it with Bromley trading standards (over the last 2 years) and they eventually got him into Crown Court on 11 counts of fraud. He pleaded guilty to all counts and is being sentenced on Monday 23rd April at Croydon Crown court. I plan to be there to see his demise!!
I too got duped by this scumbag in Feb 2009. Completely gutted my house. I reported him to Trading Standards in 2009 and received the news last thursday as mentioned by Guy. Wish I could have seen him been led to prison from the docks that day! Victory for all the victims suffered by this low life b******d!

He was also banned from being a director of a company for 10 years.
I was there to see it and it was sweet!!
The judge was fantastic in her sentencing speech and let him know the impact he has had on the lives of the people he defrauded!!
At last the British justice system works!!
Thank the Lord! what a result! I didnt expect that! When Bromely TS spoke to me it was thought he might only do 18 months as he had pleaded guilty...eventually! FIVE YEARS! This is an absolutely astounding result!

You people should take a long hard look at yourselves and see where exactly you are o blame for the building works going wrong also, did you all stick by your terms of contract agreement? Did you all pay correctly when u were supposed too and Never add extras in to the job which were never originally quoted for?
ReplyDeleteEveryone is to blame for the breakdown of work but u choose to make a normal man into a villain and monster who has been persecuted on television the Internet by you and also had house and van and wifes car vandalised and to now ultimately been put in prison for 5 years! He would get less for a violent crime!!!! I hope you can all sleep well at night!

ReplyDeleteI paid him on time, in good faith, trusted him, was very amiable with him in every way. In return I lost my house, my health and very nearly my marriage. I was forced with my wife and young 2 year old at the time to live in a bedsit while I could find some way to get my house restored.
I have a surveyors report that highlights the extent of damage and total disregard for any professional building standards. He put my extension foundations over a running drain line and if that wasn't enough made the foundations by pouring a thin skim of concrete over building rubble and got that passed by the local building control as sufficient for holding up a single storey rear extension. The inside condition of my house doesn't bear mentioning here such was the uninhabitable condition it was left in. God forbid this fraud hadn't finished the 'work' or the whole thing couldv'e collapsed on my family and then I would have definitely pursued him for a murder charge!
Don't come on here trying to defend this man thinking you know who this man is. He's a charlatan, a fraud and completely obnoxious person to the point of denying any wrong doing. Whatever his family went through was bought on themselves because of his stupidity and lack of consideration for others. I am one of many deceived by his charms. I am sure there are others that have experiences to share to put the record straight on how this man treated them.
I for one am very happy that the British justice system saw the truth for the lies. I hope while doing time it will help him to reflect on his actions not only on his family but to others that had not deserved to have their lives wrecked by his complete disregard and abandon for what constitutes as basic human decency.

This crook took a perfectly good house and ruined it by lying and stealing...Oh let me see in your words its my fault for trusting him.
The man looked me in the eye and lied on several occasions.

I completely agree with the two comments above. Absolutely Right is absolutely wrong. This man made a choose to deceive and defraud people and to put their loves at risk whereas the home owners just chose to trust someone!
